FRCHA
Green Program Guidelines
The purpose of the Green Program is to provide beginning riders and/or horses
the opportunity to become acquainted with the basic reined cow horse skills in a
competitive, yet non threatening environment. There are no restrictions placed
upon horse ownership, breed, age, or training level. Horses must be shown in a
NRCHA or NRHA approved bit. Once the Program has been completed, riders and
horses should have developed the skills necessary to be a competent NRCHA
exhibitor. Exhibitors in the Green Program pay an entry fee and are scored based
upon the execution of maneuvers as sanctioned by the NRCHA and as modified
below. Green Program points are accrued by subtracting 120 from the total score
(Reined Work and Cow Work) of each class the rider shows in. Points begin
accruing with a entry in their first show. For Non-Pro’s only, the Green
Program (Boxing only) has two levels - Green I and Green II. Each level
increases in complexity and builds upon the skills practiced each time rider and
horse enters the pen. Accumulation of 100 points automatically moves rider from
Green I to Green II. Accumulation of 200 points in Green II Class (Boxing only)
earns the rider a FRCHA Green Buckle. Non-Pro’s may continue to show in
the Green II Class for the remainder of the show year in which they earn their 200
points – Green Program points accrue from ALL classes (Sanctioned and Green)
shown at FRCHA approved shows. In order to be eligible for the buckle, rider
must be an on-going member of the FRCHA and 75% of the points must be from
the Green Program.
Non-Pro’s may only earn one (1) buckle in the Green Program.
Riders
that have graduated from any Green Cow Horse Program are not
eligible for the FRCHA Green Program.
